Prince Charles‘ goddaughter India Hicks celebrated her wedding to beau David Flint Wood on Friday, with her star-studded set of guests sharing a glimpse into the glamorous affair online.

The granddaughter of Earl Mountbatten, 54, who was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, tied the knot with her partner of 26 years in a ‘very conventional’ ceremony which took place in Brightwell Baldwin Parish Church in Oxfordshire.

Among the A-list guests at the swanky event was jazz singer Jamie Cullum and his wife former model Sophie Dahl – granddaughter of legendary writer Roald – as well as American actress Brooke Shields and legendary shoe designer Christian Louboutin.

India’s bridesmaids were led by her daughter Domino, who like her mother wore an Emilia Wickstead gown. The others included Christian Louboutin’s six-year-old twin daughters, Paloma and Eloise.

As if the children of one fashion dynasty wasn’t enough, the line-up was completed by Ines de Givenchy – daughter of Zoe and Olivier de Givenchy. Olivier is a JP Morgan executive and the nephew of designer Hubert de Givenchy.

‘Having lived a fairly unconventional life together on a small island in the Bahamas for more than two decades, we decided that our wedding should, in contrast, be very conventional,’ India wrote in an article for Vogue.

Her page boys were Kit Fraser, her godson,  and her nephew Fraser Flint Wood.

India and David were seen cutting their three-tier wedding cake decorated with white roses at their lavish reception, which took place in an outdoor marquee the night before the wedding.

‘Dinner and a little dancing the night before our wedding,’ she shared online alongside the pictures.

‘Not just because everything we were doing was happening backwards but with the idea that everyone would be more relaxed in church the next morning, not as a result of the mild hangovers but because of the camaraderie from dancing in a field together,’ she added.

Explaining more about the lavish party in an article for Vogue, she added: ‘At the end of dinner my sort-of-niece (the daughter of my cousin, Tim Knatchbull, who feels closer than a cousin), sang with a voice to melt hearts.

‘As the words of “Songbird” drifted through the night air, I could feel love all around us. The evening ended with Christian Louboutin swinging like a fevered burlesque dancer around the tent pole at such a dizzying rate we all thought the tent would come crashing down.’

Something blue! What was inside India’s bouquet?

India opted for a bouquet from the same florist as her mother’s.

Saying she wanted her flowers to have ‘wildness and fragrance’ she shared there was rosemary, lavender and eucalyptus mingled with tuberose, jasmine, hydrangeas and roses in side.

‘We had to include love-in-a-mist and old man’s beard, too, because that made me giggle. Phlox, Japanese anemones, lisianthus and eryngium were also added. It was cream in colour to match the ivory French lace, with hints of pale blue. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Here was the blue,’ she told Vogue.

Her son Wesley, 24, shared a pre-wedding image of himself with brother Felix, Conrad and Amory  posing outside a sports car before watching his mother tie the knot last week.

India shared that the wedding had ‘all the English trimmings’ complete with ‘a choir’ and ‘a series of uplifting hymns’.

Inside the church her son Conrad read a passage by Morgan Harper Nichols, an African American Christian writer, that ends with the words, while friend of the couple Charles Finch, read the Psalm of David, which had been printed in the order of service in David’s own handwriting.

India’s son Felix, 24, walked her down the and the mother wore a turtle neck wedding dress by Emilia Wickstead complete with ivory tull and lace and an A-line skirt for the big day.

She completed the look with a classic pair of white satin shoes by Christian Louboutin and carried a bouquet by Pulbrook & Gould London.  The company poignantly made her mother’s wedding bouquet in 1960.

The ring was a simple gold and diamond band from Charlotte Chesnais, which the couple chose together in Paris a few months earlier.

They had the  words ‘amor vincit omnia’ -which translates as love conquers all – on the inside.

She added a lace veil and simple drop pearl earrings as many.

‘I had debated wearing a veil, the symbol of virginity, because let’s face it I had lost that a while ago. But it also felt like a simple, very bridal gesture,’ India explained in an article for Vogue

The bride was driven to the church – which is where she was christened and where her father is buried – by her son Wesley in  David’s 1966 Mercedes Cabriolet.

India and David adopted in the Bahamas after his birth mother died of cancer. Felix, India’s fist born of her five children, then walked her down the aisle.

The philanthropist had long insisted she had no plans to marry the former advertising executive, even after five children together, but revealed her change of heart on Instagram on 28th November.

India also shared how their friends from the Bahamas came to Oxfordshire for the wedding.

‘Rissy, who has been part of our family for nearly twenty years, came to be with us – ‘Do I look like a Bahamian Princess?’ She asked my boys as they drove her to the church- ‘YES. YES. YES’ they told her.’ she shared on Instagram.

‘Next to her is Claire, our Top Banana, who had cooked dinner for 100 friends and family the night before. Who has a dinner and dance the night BEFORE their wedding?

‘The Confetti was made up from rose petals hand-picked from my mothers garden and dried in her cellar, for a really, really long time. Archway greenery also from my mothers garden created for church by Babylon Flowers who are head quartered in the next door village.’

Only daughter Domino reflected her mother’s good style in a white roll neck bridesmaid’s dress, joining the flower boys and girls in the idyllic countryside setting.

On Thursday, the bride shared images of a series of six tents being decorated with swaths of greenery as she gave a glimpse at her enormous seating plan as she posted on Instagram ahead of the big day.

After the church service the party had a reception at the  family-run Lord Nelson pub, for ‘Bloody Marys, Pimm’s and lunch’.

India explained she wanted to ‘support local businesses’ having suffered herself during the pandemic.

Lady Hicks had earlier announced the news the wedding was this week by sharing a sweet throwback image of her and her fiance to her Instagram page.

She revealed the photos were taken by David Loftus, who will also be snapping her wedding.

‘This time next week I will be married. MARRIED!’ she wrote.

‘Neither of us have ever been married before so we are both quite excited’.

She also shared how her youngest child Domino, 13, excitedly told her teacher of the upcoming nuptials.

‘”My Mother is getting married” Domino was telling her teacher. “How lovely, who is she marrying?'”the teacher asked. “My father'”came the reply,’ she added on Instagram.

In December she revealed that pair were meant to have a winter wedding but put plans on hold after revealing the romance  ‘dipped’ while trying to plan the big day in-line with Covid-19 restrictions.

‘Today I should be David’s wife. Yesterday we were meant to get married,’ she explained at the time.

‘Way back in early September we set the date for our tiny wedding. We sent out invitations, designed dresses, and debated vows (to obey or not to obey?) But as the weeks past the romance did slightly slip away.

‘I think the crunch came when our priest told us we could not have hymns that might be hummable – hummable hymns are not Covid protocol. And so we will wait a little while longer, which is OK because we’ve already waited 25 years.’

It came just weeks after the pair announced their engagement.

In a photo of the two of them together, she wrote: ‘David and I are getting married.

‘Five children and 25 years later! We quietly decided a few months ago. A celebration of unflinching love. Until death do us part.’

She told the Daily Mail: ‘After months and months of lockdown, many people were ready to kill each other – we were ready to get married.’

She had been on holiday in the Bahamas aged 13 when the prince phoned and personally asked her to take on the role.

‘I had to practise,’ she later recalled. ‘It was during these rehearsals I got to know Diana, whom I first met at a dress fitting. She always seemed more like a head girl than a princess-in-waiting, with never a shy moment in private.’

India has kept her bridesmaid’s wreath from the ceremony at St Paul’s in its original box.

In November she posted a photograph of her dress – still in perfect condition – on social media. Remarkably it was on a hanger on her stairs alongside another royal bridesmaid dress, that worn by Lady Pamela, 91.

India wrote: ‘Lots of questions asking if my mother still has the dress she wore as a bridesmaid to the Queen. She does. See it here. Next to the one I wore to Charles and Diana’s wedding.

‘Both have travelled the world in exhibitions and been on display in museums before coming home to chill for a bit.’

When aged 11, the bride had been due to be on her grandfather Earl Mountbatten’s boat when it was blown up off Ireland by the IRA in 1979, killing him and three others. She escaped after staying in the family holiday home to watch a film.
