Mobile phone provider Vodafone has gone down, leaving thousands of customers unable to receive messages or make calls.

According to Down Detector, the issues started at around 12:30 BST, and are affecting users across Britain.

Is Vodafone down? 

Issues were logged on Down Detector at the peak of the outage, leading to several users to take to X, formerly Twitter, and complain of problems.

One user wrote: ‘Is Vodafone down for anyone? Not receiving any texts or calls’. one user wrote.

‘I am not getting any connection, having to use wifi. Anyone else got this issue??’

Justin Williams wrote on X: ‘Vodafone can you confirm the app and website are down as I cannot log into either…

‘The app says there has been a problem (error code 8201) and the website has disappeared completely (server cannot be found).’

And one vented: ‘No connectivity on home broadband for over an hour now and I cannot access’.

How can I contact Vodafone and am I entitled to compensation?

Internet providers typically pay out £8 per day when services are not repaired after two whole days of no service.

You could also have right to leave a provider without a fee if you have been without service for a long time.

You can complain to your provider by phone or online via their website.

If you want to complain to Vodafone, you can call 191 for free from your Vodafone mobile, or 03333 040 191 from any other phone, from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 10pm and Saturday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm.

You can also write to Customer Relations Manager, Vodafone Limited, The Connection, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 2FN. 

Should your problem be ongoing after eight weeks, you can then complain to an Independent Alternative Resolution (ADR) scheme.

August 14 2024:  Vodafone experienced a three-hour outage that left thousands unable to use the internet on their smartphone .
